Transport of oversized reactors from factory in Bulgaria to Varna Port March-April 2013
In the end of March, Unishipping International Ltd signed a contract for delivery of equipment from factory in Radomir to Port Varna West. Cargo consisted of 13 reactors with following unit dimensions: 6170 x 5445 x 5495mm / 25000kg - total 9 pieces 5590 x 4322 x 4350mm / 15000kg - total 4 pieces All units were with very moved aside center of gravity. The logistics and the traffic measures of this shipment were one of the hardest operations, as due to the over height, every single voyage should be coordinated with the national electric company, the local electricity distribution companies, railway authorities, police authorities etc. Even in one of the city the whole trolley network has been closed for few hours due to our shipment. Not to mention also that few of the main power transmission lines using for export of electricity out of Bulgaria for our neighboring countries, had to be stopped during the passage of our trucks. It's useless to say here about the hundreds of cables, which were lifted, traffic lights and signboard dismantling. We started with 3 trucks in convoy - 1 trailer for smaller ones and 2 trailers for bigger reactors, which was our initial planning. However due to earlier arrival of vessel which had to load the units in Varna port, we decided to include 3 more lowbed trailers and last voyage has been performed with 5 trailers in one convoy. Taking into consideration that loading and discharging place are on the Western and Eastern side of the country total distance of about 720km was crossed for less than 4 days with 5 tucks in convoy, driving only day time and involving more than 5 different government and private infrastructure companies for assistance. Finally all units has been delivered and loaded on board successfully and timely without any delay and damages.
