Heavy transport from India to Bulgaria August 2013
In August 2013 Unishipping International Ltd has been nominated by a partner to handle the local operations regarding delivery of equipment from India for the world’s largest copper recycler and his production plant situated in Bulgaria. Equipment consisted of 6 large WESP with unit dimensions 11715 x 5938 x 5960mm/15303 kg, along with other small parts shipped in standard containers. Large WESP has been shipped from Mumbai on Flat Rack containers to Constanta Port, Romania. Then, units has been restuffed from containers and transshipped onto convoy of one river vessel and two barges for river transportation on Danube to Port of Lom in Bulgaria. In Lom, cargo has been loaded on trucks to final destination - job site in Pirdop, Bulgaria. Our partner arranged the sea freight booking to Constanta and local operations in India, so we have to take care of cargo from Constanta to final delivery place in Bulgaria. Project started with road survey, analyzing several routings in Bulgaria and stating all obstacles and possibilities for by-passing them in order to choose the workable one for safe and cost-wise delivery. Due to nature of cargo - reinforced plastic and fibre glass material we should be very careful in order to avoid any possible damage. Even the branches of the trees during the local trucking in Bulgaria could be a threat for entirety of the cargo. For this reason, after we choose the route we've been obliged to cut all the branches on distance of about 230km from Port to job site. Routing included mountain crossing via roadway from North to South Bulgaria which is very rarely used by vehicles and there were space between the trees on the road only for a single car which impose making wider road and closing it during the mountain crossing of our trucks. Trucks has been escorted by police during entire voyage and on places by stuff from the National electric company which arranged stop of high-voltage electricity for passing under the cables. Cargo has been delivered successfully and timely without any delay and damages on three voyages by two lowbed trailers in convoy.
